Weapon tiers in 1.0

Scrap Mechanic is not a traditional shooter — weapons are crafted tools that slot into the survival loop. Every weapon has a specific role, and the best loadout changes as you progress from surface farming to underground mining.

Early game weapons

Spud ShotgunCraftbot (mid-tier)Tapebots at close rangePotatoes
CornadeCraftbot (mid-tier)Tapebot clusters, office cornersCorn cobs

The Spud Gun is the first essential weapon. Without it, Farmbot raids will destroy your crops within the first week. See the trading guide for the exact exchange recipe.

Cornade

The Cornade is Scrap Mechanic’s first grenade — crafted from corn cobs at mid-tier Craftbot. It clears Tapebot nests around warehouse corners and office choke points where a Spud Gun cannot safely peek. Cornades also ignite flammable blocks, so aim away from wooden farm walls. For fuse timing, safe throwing angles and warehouse loadouts, see the full Cornade guide.

The Cornade is Scrap Mechanic’s first grenade-type weapon — Axolot added it after playtests showed warehouse office layouts trapping players against Tapebot crossfire. Throw it around corners to flush bots before pushing with a Spud Gun. It pairs well with cover blocks during warehouse clears.

The Spud Launcher becomes mandatory for warehouse roof fights and the Trash Bot’s final phase.

Vehicle-mounted weapons

The strongest combat setups in 1.0 mount weapons on vehicles:

  • Spud Gun cart — fast kiting platform for Farmbot fields.
  • Sawbot harvester — automated crop defence that doubles as a raid response vehicle.
  • Plasma Drill rig — mining vehicle that doubles as an Agrobot deterrent underground.
  • Turret Seat fortress — stationary base defence with 360-degree coverage.

For build instructions, see vehicle design and defensive base.

Weapons that are NOT combat tools

  • Connect Tool — building only, no damage.
  • Paint Tool — cosmetic only.
  • Lift — placement only.
  • Claygun — terrain shaping; bots can dig through Claygun blocks but it does not deal damage.
