Scrap Mechanic Fan Pack

Optional supporter cosmetics released alongside 1.0 — no gameplay advantage, no story lock.

What the Fan Pack is

The Fan Pack is optional paid DLC Axolot released alongside Scrap Mechanic 1.0 & Drilling Thunder (July 24, 2026). It is supporter content — cosmetic rewards for players who want to fund continued development. It is not required for Survival, Creative, Challenge Mode or the voiced Chapter 2 story.

The base 1.0 update is free for everyone who already owns Scrap Mechanic on Steam. The Fan Pack is a separate Steam store entry bundled with skins, outfits and decorative blocks only.

What is included

Based on Axolot’s launch materials and in-game item lists, the Fan Pack adds:

  • Station skins — alternate textures for Craftbot, Refinery Bot and Mechanic Station panels.
  • Character outfits — builder garments and accessories visible in third-person and multiplayer.
  • Decorative blocks — themed props for Creative builds and Survival base dressing.
  • Boombox and clock variants — cosmetic reskins of functional blocks you can already craft via Schematics.

Nothing in the Fan Pack unlocks Plasma Drill recipes, warehouse keys, underground access or boss encounters. If a Steam store page lists “Fan Pack” next to Drilling Thunder, read carefully — the expansion itself ships inside the free 1.0 patch.

How to enable Fan Pack content

  1. Purchase the Fan Pack on Steam (optional).
  2. When creating a new Survival or Creative world, tick Enable Fan Pack content if the checkbox appears.
  3. Existing worlds can usually toggle cosmetics in the world settings menu without resetting progression — test on a copy first.

Fan Pack items appear in the Dress Bot and Creative spawn menus once enabled. They do not consume Schematicbot scans.

Do you need it for Chapter 2?

No. The full Drilling Thunder campaign — voiced NPCs, Mining Island, underground layer, Trash Bot boss and Steam achievements — lives in the free 1.0 client. The Fan Pack only changes how your stations and character look while you play that content.

Returning players asking “should I rebuy Scrap Mechanic?” only need the base game license. Owners from Early Access receive 1.0 automatically through the same library entry.

Price and ownership notes

At launch, Scrap Mechanic’s base price moved to $29.99 on Steam for new buyers. Existing owners pay nothing for 1.0. The Fan Pack is priced separately as optional support — check the current Steam store page for regional pricing.

If you gift Scrap Mechanic to a friend, they receive the full 1.0 experience without the Fan Pack unless you buy both.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Is the Fan Pack the same as Drilling Thunder?

No. Drilling Thunder is the free 1.0 chapter inside the base game. Fan Pack is optional cosmetic DLC sold separately on Steam.

Can I see Fan Pack items in multiplayer if only one player owns it?

Other players see your equipped outfits and placed decorative blocks, but cannot craft Fan Pack items themselves without owning the DLC.

Will Fan Pack content affect save compatibility?

Disabling the Fan Pack on a world that already used cosmetic blocks may replace them with default textures. Back up saves before toggling DLC options.
